Reports of Scammers Impersonating Board and GDNA Staff
The Georgia State Board of Pharmacy has been alerted to ongoing scam calls where individuals impersonate Board or Georgia Drugs and Narcotics Agency (GDNA) representatives.
These scammers often "spoof" the Board’s official phone number to appear legitimate on your caller ID. They may falsely claim that a pharmacist’s license is under investigation, suspended, or requires urgent payment or verification. These tactics are designed to intimidate you into revealing sensitive information or sending money.
What You Need to Know
- No Phone Payments: The Georgia State Board of Pharmacy and GDNA will never demand payment or personal financial information over the phone.
- No Threats: We do not threaten arrest or immediate license suspension via unsolicited phone calls.
- Official Channels: Legitimate communication from the Board is typically conducted through official letters or secure email, not via unexpected phone calls.
- Trust Your Instincts: Even if the caller ID looks correct, do not share personal, financial, or license data with unknown callers.
Protect Yourself: When in Doubt, Verify.
If you receive a suspicious call:
- Hang up immediately. Do not engage with the caller.
- Do not provide data. Never share personal, financial, or license information by phone or email.
- Verify directly. Contact the Board using the official number listed on our website to confirm if a communication is legitimate.
- Alert your team. Ensure your staff and colleagues are aware of these ongoing scams.
- Report it. Consider filing a police report for attempted fraud to help track these incidents.
